Sulee arrived in the US on 21 April 8 March: Sulee's Soldier writes: While visiting FOB Kalsu in Iraq, I met "Sulee", he was one of 22 -four week old puppies which had been born on the FOB from 4 different litters. I and my team adopted Sulee and he has lived with us ever since. I will be rotating for home in about 60 days and have been struggling with how to take Sulee home with me. That is, until I was forwarded your website information. The prospect of bringing Sulee home to join the "family" has both my wife and I very excited. My sister, is in the process of having a kennel shipped to me. Please provide me with info that I will need and keep your fingers crossed. Thank you in advance for your assistance.
30 March Savanna's soldier writes: Savanna is an adorable puppy; 5 months old with all up to date immunizations; She has served our Task Force here in Afghanistan so well, totally a morale booster. The new aviation task force wants her destroyed, and with only a few days left on the ground I am trying to get her a ride back to the States where one of our pilots is adopting her. She has a carrier and a letter of health from the vet. Please let me know how to proceed; Much appreciation.
14 December: Sandy's Soldier writes: "This is my dog Sandy, the best kept dog in the 'Ghan". A local boy from the town of Bagram brought us Sandy to say thank you for care we rendered him. Just over 3 months old, she could still fit inside my Kevlar. Well, 6 months later Sandy ("Stitch" to me) is still here, I've become positively inseparable from this dog and have long ago decided to bring her home. Sandy's finances to come to the US will exceed $2800.00 and require 2 international flights. ![]() Best Friends Sanctuary in Kanub, UT welcomes these 2 kitties to their Society for the soldier who rescued them. March 19: Tuffy & Scruffy's Soldier writes: I am writing about 2 cats who live on an army camp in Kuwait. One of the cats was brought here from Iraq by some soldiers. She had a litter of kittens, but only one kitten survived. The Mama cat is friendly and likes people a lot, but she is also independent and a hunter. The baby was born in a sheet metal shop and has been the center of attention since she was born. She is super friendly too. Both are females, both spayed and vaccinated by Army vets. The folks who were looking after then have gone home, and the shop where they lived is to be torn down. I am afraid that when it gets hot and when the sandstorms start up they won't have any place to seek shelter and their health will suffer or worse. I really would like to get them out of this situation, but I can't adopt them because I have 5 pets at home, however - Best Friends Sanctuary in Kanub, UT has agreed to take them if I can get them to them.
Lava landed in the US on 2 April, thanks to Helen Woodward Animal Center - Rancho Santa Fe, CA. 7 February: Lava's Marine writes: During the battle of Fallujah in November the Marines took over a house, in one of the buildings they found a very small, frightened puppy, who they named Lava. We all cared for him, he was filthy, flea-bitten, starving and quite scared. But you could tell that this pup, maybe 3-4 weeks old and on his own, had some fight in him. He seemed to grow stronger every day. I had him sleep next to me in a box every night, using my fleece pullover as a bed for him. After all the hard work here, especially the success I've had in combat, I'd still feel like I failed my mission if I don't get Lava to the States. I just can't abandon him here. If you'd like to post Lava on the web site, that would be great, but I do not want to solicit donations for him. Donations should be reserved for young Marines and Soldiers who don't have the financial means.
